Western Wedding Theme

A Western Wedding Theme is pretty easy to create. The attire, decorations, cake topper and favors are pretty common place. If you are a true cowgirl and cowboy then you may want to have a real "hoe-down" style wedding complete with an outdoor, open-pit barbeque reception, live country music and dancing.

However, you may just share a true love of horses. They are magnificent creatures, a symbol of grace and free-spirit. What a wonderful theme for your beach wedding!

When you think of western items, hay bales, red bandanas, horseshoes and cowboy hats come to mind. Black, blue, red and turquoise are typical colors.

You may want to try something a little different.

Here are a few ideas...

    * Think Denim and Lace! Together they equal beautiful, casual elegance. Perfect for a beach wedding with a western wedding theme!

    * Have the groom dress casually in blue denim jeans. A crisp white gambler style dress shirt would go beautifully - leave the collar unbuttoned. Remember, you are going to be on the beach, you want to keep your wedding attire as cool and comfortable as possible. Complete the outfit with his favorite cowboy boots and a handsome white cowboy hat.

    * Your bridal dress needs to be cool and casual too. Here is a western style lace wedding dress that would be perfect for the beach. This dress is a bit more expensive but also ideal.

    * Here is a cute garter to go under that beautiful dress.

    * Keep your wedding hat simple. All of that tulle attached to many of the hats you see detracts from your face and your dress. Keep your bridal boots casual too. The lace up style are too formal for your casual beach wedding. Besides, you want to be able to kick 'em off quick so that you can feel the sand and the warm ocean water on your toes later.

    * If you haven't already chosen your rings, you simply have to check out these new western wedding rings! How perfect are they?

    * Here are some very cute Save-A-Date magnets if you wish to send out advance notice before you send out invitations.

    * These western wedding invitations stand out from the many to choose from. They are classy and casual. For something even more casual, try these Daybreak invitations - very pretty!

    * Here is an adorable cake topper for horse lovers but there are many to choose from.

A Different Western Wedding Color Theme...

    * Instead of going with the usual reds, blacks and turquoises that are normally associate with a western wedding theme, soften the look up a bit. Those colors are too harsh for your denim and lace look. Instead, try periwinkle, plum and white. Here is a picture of a wedding cake that depicts this color scheme beautifully. It is elegant, soft and very western!

    * Match your bouquet and boutonniere to the flowers on that cake! White daisies, periwinkle bachelor buttons and plum colored straw flowers would make and absolutely gorgeous bouquet as well as looking very handsome with the groom's white shirt and denim jeans. A perfect match!

    * These adorable yet elegant horse shoe soaps would make the perfect wedding favors.

    * Matching horse confetti and a few balloons will add to the fun. Fill the balloons with helium and let the guests release them after the ceremony!

    * Since you are having a beach wedding, the perfect place for your reception would be at one of the many ocean front bar and grills. Grilled steak and seafood Shish kebabs would be splendid on the menu. If you want to decorate your tables, centerpieces could be very simple. Just take some small aluminum pails, fill them with a bit of straw, add a bottle of wine (for the toast to the Bride and Groom) and a few of the daisies, bachelor buttons and straw flowers. Very beautiful!

Ride Off Into The Sunset...

Hopefully this page has provided you with a bit of a different 'spin' on the same old western wedding theme. It is softer and much more romantic but...there is one more thing.

Many places in Florida allow horseback riding right on the beaches. The Jacksonville area and in particular, Amelia Island and St. Augustine are noted for it.

How romantic would it be for you as horse lovers, to ride off into a beautiful sunset down the shores of the Atlantic Ocean on horseback? It would be the perfect end to the perfect western beach wedding!
