Get references and check them out! Find out if your potential bandis prompt and reliable. If they party hardy the night before yourevent, they may not give their best performance or worse, not show upat all. It HAPPENS!
Go see them perform live if you can. At the very least see a videoof one of their performances. Do you like what you see? Do they pleasethe guests? Is the leader a suitable emcee?
Check out their song list. Are they limited by their style of music orare they versatile enough to please a crowd of all ages? You want everyone to dance and have a good time!
If you are going to request any "special" songs, now is the time tofind out if they can play them. Sometimes, they will make an effort tolearn a new song if it is requested in time. Find out if they charge extra for this though before you make your request.
Ask how often they break and for how long. Do they play recorded musicduring their breaks?
Check out everything, the band's liability insurance, the deposit, overtimeand cancellation fees.
If your location is outdoors, be sure alternate plans are perfectlyclear!
