Wedding bouquet design is art, not rocket science. Don't let it scareyou. You can easily make a wedding bouquet yourself and save a pile ofmoney in the process!

You have two choices here...fresh flowers or silk. If you choose to have fresh flowers, they will be more expensive and timing of course isan issue. Silk flowers on the other hand, are much cheaper, can be created at your leisure over a period of time and will last forever.

Since you are planning a beach wedding, silk flowers will definitelyhold up much better in the sun!

A couple of tips to get you started...

First, make a checklist of all of the wedding flowers you will need.

* Bridesmaid's bouquets and headpieces

* Flower girl bouquet/basket and headpiece

* Groom's boutonniere

* Groomsmen's boutonnieres

* Corsages for mothers and grandmothers

* Boutonnieres for fathers and grandfathers

Choose your flowers based on the beach wedding theme you have chosen. If you are going with fresh flowers, be sure your choice is "in season"

There are popular wedding flowers such as roses, carnations, freesia, calla lilies, daisies and gardenias but you can use any flower or combination of flowers you choose. Some of the more exotic, less popular choices are very beautiful. Sunflowers, for example, make a spectacular bouquet!

Remember, your wedding bouquet design can be extremely simple and still very elegant!

* Try 4 or 5 long stemmed lilies accented with ivy. Very simple yet very pretty!

* If you want to keep your bouquet, make a small "break-away" bouquet that can be removed to toss.

Be creative!

Make your flower designs original. Add ribbons, bows, strings of pearls, butterflies, shells or anything else you like to give your flowers a tropical, "beachy" theme.

Once you have created your bouquets, design headpieces for your wedding party to match.

Do the same with your boutonnieres for the man in your life and the men in your wedding party. A single bloom, a little Baby's Breath, a little greenery and a small ribbon and some floral tape is all you need!
