A Lighthouse Wedding - St. Simons Island, Georgia

This month, I didn't get a chance to do any adventuring in Florida. That didn't keep me away from the beach though. St. Simons Island, is a 10 minute drive from my house and there some great beaches there.

St. Andrews, Massengale Park and East Beach are all wonderful spots to keep cool and socialize. St. Andrews Beach is great if you are a nature lover. You are almost assured of a close encounter with the dolphins that swim very close to shore. At times they can be playful, actually swimming amongst the humans. If you are a fisherman, this is the spot for you too. Cast your net into the waters and easily rake in shrimp and blue leg crabs as well as many types of fish and even the odd stingray or small shark. The dolphins will allow you to hand feed them the fish and the Egrets stand ready on the shoreline for any scraps that come their way.

Massengale Park Beach is the life of the island. Beautiful beaches marked by endless sandbars that allow you to walk for miles in warm shallow waters. This beach is a summer playground. You'll see people parasailing, windsurfing, kayaking, bicycling, snorkeling, boogie boarding, castle building and everything in between. The smell of suntan lotion is everywhere!

East Beach is less crowded but every bit as beautiful. This would be a perfect place for your beach wedding! A nautical themed wedding at the St. Simons Lighthouse would be very romantic!
